About Jamie Scott

State Representative Jamie Scott is running to succeed long-term State Senator Linda Chesterfield, for the District 12 seat that encompasses parts of North Little Rock, Little Rock, and Jacksonville.

Jamie Scott is the Executive Director for Pulaski County Youth Services, a small business owner, a North Little Rock native, and a two-term State Representative for Arkansas House District 72. She has dedicated her career to public service and to fighting for equal rights and opportunities for all.

First elected in 2019, Ms. Scott was the youngest African American female elected in the history to the Arkansas State Legislature. Representative Scott served on the House Judiciary and State Agencies & Governmental Affairs, Joint Budget, Joint Performance Review Committees during the 94th General Assembly. Rep. Scott is the 2021 recipient of the Council of State Governments 20 under 40 National Legislative Leadership Award, Arkansas Education Association Human and Civil Rights Special Achievement Award, Millennial Action Project’s 2021 Rising Star Award, Courageous Collaborator recipient from Americans for Prosperity, the Arkansas Champion of Trucking Award recipient for supporting and advocating for important issues related to taxes, infrastructure, and healthcare.

In the state legislature, Jamie received the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families' Legislative Leadership Award, Arkansas State University's Living Legend Award, Arkansas Municipal League's Distinguished Legislator Award, Arkansas State University’s Emerging Young Alumni Award and the Brown Girls Rock Nellie Award in Public Service.

As Pulaski County Youth Service’s Executive Director, Jamie ensured that free mental health services, college preparation, leadership development, academic enrichment after-school programs, summer workforce, and restorative juvenile justice programs are available to kids in Pulaski County. To support these efforts, she has successfully secured over $5 million in government and community grants for youth programs and juvenile transition services. Before joining Pulaski County Youth Services, Ms. Scott served as director of Upward Bound Programs at an HBCU where she prepared first generation and low-income students for college.

Ms. Scott is a member of the Worship Center Church of God in Christ. A former board member for Volunteers in Public Schools and AR Kids Read, Jamie currently serves on the board of Just Communities of Arkansas, Wildcat Foundation, Argenta Community Theater and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.  Jamie spends her free time traveling, mentoring youth, and volunteering throughout her community. She is a graduate of North Little Rock High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Sociology and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Arkansas State University.
